Meet The Early Educators

Our staff consists of highly experienced teachers with a strong educational background in early childhood development and psychology.

Ms. Debbie Mandell, Founder 

Ms. Mandell is an UCLA alumni. She began teaching in 1981 as Director of Alouette School, where she taught Kindergarten and first classes. With a background that involved singing and acting at the famous Lee Strasberg Institute in Hollywood, Ms. Mandell’s approach to education stresses the importance of character growth through a variety of activities.

Ms. Marlene Berns, Co-Founder
Ms. Berns first began teaching as a camp counselor and instructor at a family owned business which was well known on the Westside as Happy Trails Day Camp. She later became the director of the camp. After attending UCLA, with an emphasis on child development and psychology, Ms. Berns went on to teach in the L.A. City School District in their Children’s centers.
